Franchise Consultant and Coach Informed by Real Ownership Experience
About Ryan Perry
Ryan Perry helps experienced professionals, executives, managers, business owners, and entrepreneurs evaluate franchise ownership through a structured, fit-based process.
He is the Founder of Franchising Path, his franchise consulting and education platform, and an independent Franchise Consultant affiliated with FranChoice. His work is informed by direct experience as a franchise owner, multi-unit operator, and area developer, along with more than two decades of entrepreneurship, business ownership, and real estate experience.
A Professional Path Built Through Ownership
Ryan grew up in Southern California in a working family that valued education, responsibility, and steady effort. His early interest in independence led him toward entrepreneurship and the practical realities of building businesses rather than following a single conventional career path.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from National University. That education continues to influence the way he listens, asks questions, and works to understand the motivations and concerns behind major professional decisions.
From Real Estate to Franchising
Ryan's professional path began in real estate. His experience expanded beyond traditional transactions into property investment, renovation, resale, and development. Working through changing markets taught him how to evaluate opportunities, manage uncertainty, solve operational problems, and make decisions when the path forward was not always obvious.
As conditions in the real estate and credit markets changed, Ryan began exploring franchising. He entered the industry through area development and later moved into direct ownership and operations. He believed that understanding franchise ownership required more than reviewing concepts from the outside. It required first-hand experience with the responsibilities of running the business.
Ownership, Operations, and Area Development
Ryan went on to own, operate, develop, and exit franchise interests across several service-based industries. His experience included multi-unit ownership, area-development responsibilities, manager-led operations, and the practical work of building through people, systems, expectations, and accountability.
Those years gave him direct exposure to staffing, management, customer service, sales, local market execution, delegation, growth, and the different demands placed on an owner as a business develops. They also shaped a central belief that still guides his work: purchasing a franchise is only the beginning. The owner still has to build, lead, manage, and execute.
The Transition from Operator to Consultant
Ryan later moved from operating franchise businesses into franchise consulting and coaching. The transition allowed him to use his ownership experience to help other professionals investigate business ownership with a clearer understanding of the responsibilities involved.
Today, he helps candidates clarify what they want from ownership, identify the characteristics that may influence fit, investigate franchise systems, prepare for franchisor conversations, speak with existing franchise owners, and evaluate what they learn. His work also involves helping candidates remain accountable to the process and work through uncertainty without allowing excitement or fear to replace careful analysis.
Education Before Commitment
Ryan's approach is education-first and fit-based. He does not begin with the assumption that franchise ownership is right for everyone, and he does not define a good outcome only as a purchase.
A careful process may lead someone to move forward, continue investigating, consider a different direction, or decide that ownership is not the right step. Each of those outcomes can represent a better decision when it is based on clear information, realistic expectations, and honest alignment with the candidate's goals and capabilities.
Franchising Path and FranChoice
Ryan is the Founder of Franchising Path, the platform through which candidates learn about his consulting process, access educational resources, and begin working with him.
He is also an independent Franchise Consultant affiliated with FranChoice. Through that affiliation, he works with a portfolio of franchise brands accepted into the FranChoice network. Ryan's recommendations are limited to brands within that portfolio.
The franchise brand pays FranChoice under a pre-existing agreement, and FranChoice pays Ryan. There is no additional cost to a franchise candidate for using his services.
A Broader Business Perspective
Ryan remains active in real estate through Northshore Investment Group. That work is a supporting part of his broader entrepreneurial history and contributes to his long-term perspective on ownership, adaptability, decision-making, and business development.
Professional recommendations describe Ryan as educational, prepared, collaborative, accountable, and attentive to candidate goals. These qualities reflect the standard he brings to his work: direct without being dismissive, experienced without relying on hype, and focused on helping people understand what they are actually evaluating.
Family, Sports, and Long-Term Perspective
Family and sports are important parts of Ryan's personal life. He values the lessons that come from preparation, teamwork, coaching, and long-term development, and he brings many of those same principles to professional decision-making.
He is also interested in the role business ownership can play in a family's future, while recognizing that legacy and long-term outcomes must be built through responsible choices rather than promised through a single opportunity.
Who Ryan Helps
Ryan primarily works with experienced professionals, executives, managers, business owners, and entrepreneurs who are exploring franchise ownership as a next professional chapter, a diversification strategy, or a path toward greater control.
Some are preparing to leave a corporate role. Others want to diversify beyond employment or an existing business. Some have prior ownership experience, while others are considering entrepreneurship for the first time. What they share is the need for a clearer process and a realistic resource as they evaluate a major decision.
A Practical Standard
Ryan does not present franchise ownership as simple, passive, risk-free, or appropriate for everyone. He does not promise a perfect franchise or a guaranteed outcome.
His role is to help candidates investigate franchise ownership with greater clarity, preparation, and accountability, using lessons drawn from his own business and life experience.
